Is Anything Going on in Sports??

The baseball season is almost over, and teams are making that one last push to be in the playoffs. I am very excited about this, not because I can't wait to watch the countless number of painfully long games left, but because it is almost over, thank God. I would rather watch womens college basketball than the MLB.

The NFL preseason is almost over as teams are playing their last preseason games this week. This can only mean one thing, and that one thing is that betting season is right around the corner. Oh how I love to bet on these games, not to mention fantasy football, and above those the actual games themselves are just very entertaining and relaxing to watch. I just love having an incentive to cheer on other players and teams that I have money on. (except when teams play against the Titans of course)

Not too far after the start of the NFl regular season NBA teams will open up training camp. As far as the Pacers go I would expect and surprisee finish and the 6th seed as long as there are no injuries that last too long. T.J. Ford is a very underrated player, and with Coach Jim O'brians system it should be very fun to watch to say the least. I am not really sure what to expect from Danny Granger this year as I think Mike Dunleavy will take away from his scoring, but they definitely make a very good one two punch. The trouble of course is playing defense. The Pacers were on of the worst defensive teams last season. My biggest worry is Roy Hibbert though. Hopefully he will be able to fit in well with the Pacers up tempo style, as Hibbert is very slow and not very athletic. If the Pacers could have gotten one of the Lopez twins, oh my I would be smiling from ear to ear. Also Marquis Daniels is in a contract year, so expect him to be in 6th man contention, I have always been a fan of his game since seeing him as a rookie in Dallas, and now he might have his best season yet.

well I think that is it for now so I am out like the Yanks in the playoff race

Redeemed?

First off let me say congratulations to the USA mens basketball team, for winning the gold medal at the olympics, and hats off to the Spanish national team for playing as well as they did in the gold medal game.

My question is this, is the USA men's basketball team truly redeemed? For the players on this team as well as on the athens team, I would expect them to feel that they have redeemed themselves, but is America actually redeemed? I say no, with a name like the redeem team the first thing that comes to your mind is that the USA mens team still lost in 2004, and lost embarrassingly I might add. For me at least I feel as if the USA wins the next 4 or 5 gold medals then not all, but most of the 2004 games will be forgotten, but if we go out and lose in 2012 was this really the redeem team?

I just hope that we take the smart approach to every olympic games, like we did for this year by having the team together for such a long period of time. I just have to say get the next team on board as soon as possible, a three year or two year commitment, whatever it may be just get the team on board, and kick the Worlds ass again in 4 years.
until next time everybody I'm out

Random Thoughs

Hey 8th floor fans, (I know there are a lot of you) sorry for the delay as it has been a few days since I last updated, but with it being summer you will have to forgive me.

The USA mens basketball team will face off against the Spanish national team in the gold medal game at 2:15 in the a.m. eastern time. What in the hell were the people smoking when they scheduled this game? all of the other games have started at 8 a.m. at the earliest, and now the gold medal game comes around and you decide to have a start time of 2:15??? What the hell is wrong with you. I expect close to another 40 point win again versus the Spaniards, after playing poorly against the Argentine squad.

All the articles that I read about this USA team does nothing but hate on them, why can't these so called experts see that no one can even compete with the USA in basketball, at least not this year after that embarrassing performance in Athens. Stop all of your hating, and just write what I already know, that we are unbeatable, and no one can touch us.

Thank God for preseason football or I would have to lose my mind up here. 4th string football is a helluva lot better than 1st string baseball. Also the regular season is right around the corner, in just a couple of weeks everything will be right with the world again as it will be football season.

that is all for now I suppose, until next time I'm out like Tony Romo in the first round of the playoffs

Time for the Titans to Make a Move

With football season right around the corner, I should probably mention that I am a huge Tennessee Titans fan. On the ESPN front page today there is an article with Arizona Cardinals wide reciever Anquan Boldin asking to be traded. Now for the Titans this makes perfect sense, as it does for the Cardinals. First off, the Cardinals would be trading Boldin to an AFC team not and NFC team, second draft picks are way overhyped, and Boldin is better than a first rounder anyway. I am sure it isnt that simple but I have layed the groundwork for the deal it is just up to Titans management to get Vince Young an actual reviever. With a top 10 Defense already in place, adding Boldin would dramatically improve the offense, and make the Titans a superbowl contender.

Olympics vs. First Day of Classes

Well it is Tuesday night in the dorm at Indiana state, and Tomorrow classes begin. I have a class at nine in the morning; this brings up an interesting delima as it is the first day of classes so I should probably go to my first class, but it is right in the middle of the USA basketball game against the Australians. Even though I believe we (I say we as I feel apart of the team and should every other american) will probably win by 20+ points, the Aussie's were the only competition we have faced so far. They lost by single digits without their best player Andrew Bogut who is a very underated player in the NBA.

That is it for now, until next time everyone.

Kyle Orton

Kyle orton ought to get on his knees and thank God, that the front office/coaches in Chicago are the worst in the league. Rex Grossman took your team to the superbowl and give the Bears a chance to win games actually, and yet they decide to put Orton in who has a smaller water pistol gun than Chad Pennington. (not to mention Orton went to the worst college on earth, Purdue University) The Chicago schedule isn't forgiving either they could possibly be 0-5 if they dont make the move to Grossman soon enough. they open at the Colts, from their it is off to Caroline, before the come home to face Tamba Bay who will be in every game that they play, they stay at home to lose to the Eagles, and they go to Detroit after that. After what I predict to be at least an 0-3 start the the Bears will be forced to have Rex Grossman as their quarterback. Of course in the long run none of this really matters because the Bears have no chance of making the playoffs.
Kyle Orton is going to get beat down like Jose Canseco boxing Vai Sikahema

random ramblings

As I am typing this the blinds are blowing in my face. (on the 8th floor) I couldn't come up with any just one topic for this post so I will just be rambling about a few different things.

College Football- unless there is an IU game on we wont be discussing college football.

The State of IU Basketball- while I love my hoosiers I can not see them winning more than 10 games this season, with just about everybody and their brothers leaving the team. Hopefully only fans, and no more players will be throwing flower pots at Tom Crean.

Poker- listening to Big Poker Sunday right now on pokerroad.com, if you haven't checked out the site do so immediately, it is great, a whole lot of content. And for all of you parents out there poker is a skill game it is not gambling.

Olympics- This morning at 8 a.m. eastern the United States pretty muched doubled up on the German team. Kris Kaman is a joke, you don't turn your back on your country to play for another team, just because you aren't good enough to play for the USA, you don't go to another country, you practice, get better, and play on team USA in 4 years. Also Dirk Dowitski's (spelling?) career is just about done in my eyes. expect a lot of losses for the mavericks this year.

As for the NBA players leaving for more money over seas, that is the biggest cop out I have ever seen, in my opinion David Stern needs to ban these players from coming back into the NBA. if you have a problem making millions over here and playing against the best competition, then you aren't welcome back. Of course that will never happen, but if it did Dictator David Stern would deserve a pat on the back.
